Bearings 2000, is proud to be a sponsor of the Sithanda Upliftment Projects and the brilliant work the organisation has done. The organisation has dedicated the past three years to their flagship project in developing an Early Childhood Development Centre.

The facility is named “Ekuthuleni – A Place of Peace” and is in the Kwa-Mashu township in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Ekuthuleni facility provides a safe and caring environment for up to 60 young children, who previously did not have any access to any education, or the adequate nutrition required in the critical stages of early childhood development.

We hold this initiative very close to our hearts as it strongly reinforces our philosophy to assist in educating South Africa’s less privileged youth. “We realise the significant opportunities that a skilled and educated youth pose for the future of South Africa and as a company, we are committed to continue unlocking this potential through various initiatives.” Affirmed Bearing 2000 sales director, Michael Stamatiadis.

“We believe that with the appropriate resources, we can empower the youth (of any age) to lead not only their immediate communities but the nation at large. This very act of empowerment has been successfully demonstrated with our intern programme.”

The annual fundraising golf day

Our Bearings 2000 four ball at the annual Sithanda golf day

Sithanda held their annual fundraising golf day at the Randpark Golf Club – Firethorn course, for the cause on the 4th October 2019. Bearings 2000 sponsored Hole 10 (Tee box) and Hole 17 (Closest to the pin with Beat the pro Cassandra Hall) as well as a function room for the dinner proceedings. The golf day would have been incomplete without Bearing 2000’s Elbert Chen, Supply Chain Manager and Michael Stamatiadis, showcasing their golf swings in our sponsored four ball.

It was overwhelming to witness the tremendous attendance and support from multiple South African businesses representing all sectors of the economy and we’d like to extend our gratitude to all those who attended and contributed in any way. This includes Livclean, Wimpy Jeffery’s Bay, Momentum, Just Flour Mills, Special Ops 99 and Link Hive amongst others.

Not only did the event raise the much-needed funds, but it raised awareness around Early Childhood Development and the plight of so many young people across our rainbow nation.

The youth of marginalised communities have long awaited a level playing field in the realm of education and upliftment. Together with Sithanda, we have proudly taken judicious steps to equip South Africa’s youth with the necessary tools to develop the competitive edge required within today’s skilled job market.
